Every PadSmart home starts as a digital model. The layout, structure, systems, and major material transitions are resolved before assembly and installation.
That planning allows us to utilize standardize panels, identify conflicts earlier, and reduce the amount of decision-making that normally happens on-site.
The goal is not simply to build faster. It is to move uncertainty out of the field and into the design process, where it can be resolved more accurately.
The primary structure is fabricated as large panels in a controlled work environment.
Cold-formed steel framing members are roll-formed, cut, pre-punched and ready to assemble into the structural panel.
Sheathing and exterior foam insulation panels are cut by CNC to perfectly fit the super accurate framing.
Windows are installed and incorporated into the building envelope
Finally, furing strips are installed to create a built-in rain screen and make the panels siding-ready.
Once completed, the panels are organized according to the planned installation sequence, transported to the site, and lifted into place by crane. After the roof and walls panels are installed and seams are sealed, interior work can begin rapidly.
Why panelization matters? The benefit is not simply speed. Panelization improves control over:
Dimensions and alignment
Construction sequencing
Repeatability between homes
Exposure to weather
Waste generated on site (and in total)
Homes aren't disposable. We uses materials and design concepts to create homes that are safe, healthy, and low maintenance.
Fire, water, and bug resistant materials
Cold-formed steel framing, mineral-wool insulation, exterior EPS foam insulation, and fiberglass gypsum sheathing all provide excellent resistance to fire, mold, water, and pests. These materials stand the test of time.
Durable finishes and building science
We use durable paints, trims, and siding with long warranties installed on a"rainscreen" - a self-ventilating gap behind the siding allows incidental moisture to drain and dry.
Air sealing and continuous insulation
Insulation outside the framing, along with thorough air sealing, reduces heat loss through the building envelope. These practices help maintain more consistent interior temperatures, allowing a PadSmart home to use about 1/3 the energy of a normal home.
Thermal enclosure
Continuous insulation wraps fully from underneath the slab foundation, around the walls and to the peak of the roof - creating minimal thermal leakage and cold spots.
